Episode 20: Feeling Fatigued
Fatigue is something we all experience. In a way, fatigue keeps us alive, even though in reality it feels far from it. When we engage in excessive mental or physical activities, fatigue acts as a bio-alarm signalling to us that we need to rest and recharge. The only problem is, however, that we live in a world where slowing down isn’t always an option, so we just keep going. On this month’s show, we focus on what physical fatigue looks like in the brain, and how it affects the way we make decisions about the effort we are willing to make. These mechanisms likely evolved to protect us, but how far do they go in helping us in today's modern world?
